DOUGLAS COX

Bio 

Mr. Cox has been an educator in Philadelphia Urban schools and non profits for over 17 years. He has worked as an educator in Kenya and South Korea.

In the early 2000’s, he worked with adjudicated youth and adults in rehabilitation centers. Mr. Cox has worked with Steppingstone Scholars, Philadelphia Futures , and Pennsylvania Horticultural society. He has supervised math teachers at a local Charter school.  His many ties to the community have been featured in the media via local and national newspapers, televisions and radio. As a world traveler who has lived in Kenya and South Korea, he has visited many nations across the globe.

He is the founder and director of the Dark Knights Chess Club, a national and international self empowerment organization. They use the cultural and strategic world of chess to engage the community. Mr. Cox uses his ability to speak Kiswahili, French , and Korean to expose his students to a diverse world view. “We live in a global society and it is important to be able  to relate with humans from all walks of life."
